Happy New Year!

I hope 2007 has brought you much prosperity and joy.

For many people the New Year is the time to set new directions by way of resolutions. The trouble with New Years resolutions is that they generally only last about a month. After that first month we’re usually back to the status quo.

Why?

Most of our resolutions come from a dream. Dreams are good only if they are converted into visions. Without being able to see ourselves as already having achieved the goal, we operate in a fantasy world.

Even a vision isn’t enough most of the time. All it usually takes to throw us off track is one little bump in the road. Those bumps in the road throw us off because the things resolved don’t really match our true purpose in life. No matter how desirable or noble a resolution, we can’t maintain the focus needed unless that goal also enhances our personal mission in life.

If you haven’t already discovered your purpose in life and dedicated yourself to it, there is a great exercise on Chuck Goetschel’s site to help you do so.  http://chuckgoetschel.blogharbor.com/blog   Spend some time with yourself and discover your purpose. Then, make the right resolutions.

Resolutions that match our personal mission in life will hold our interest long enough to be reached. The attainment of goals will bring prosperity.

May 2008 be the year you attain all your goals.

You can do it!
